
Navneet Ghuman, part of NIHR Leicester’s Clinical Research Facility team, was one of several staff members recognized for their outstanding contributions to work at the Intensive Care Therapy Unit as the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre’s Respiratory Theme crowned their Research Champions.
The NIHR Leicester’s Clinical Research Facility (CRF) the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust’s ITU Clinical team took time to celebrate their achievements.
Members of staff were awarded certificates recognising their outstanding contributions and dedication to research and care. A small ceremony at the Respiratory BRC took place on 12 July 2023, giving the champions time to celebrate and reflect on their accomplishments.
One of this years’ champions was the CRF’s Navneet Ghuman who is currently based at the Glenfield Hospital’s Intensive Care Therapy Unit. Her role involves raising the profile of research, recruiting on specific clinical trials, and follow ups with patients once they leave the hospital. This is crucial to the study’s success.
Navneet said: “I am grateful to have received an award for my contribution to ITU studies I am proud that my efforts have led to significant progress, and I am committed to ensuring its success”.
She added: “I want to express my gratitude to Tracy and Antonella for recognizing my hard work. Tracy, thank you for giving me the encouragement I needed – it means a great deal to me”.
The NIHR Leicester CRF’s Director of Operations, Tracy Kumar, said: “This is a wonderful achievement, Navneet is a fantastic, dedicated member of the team. The role she plays in recruiting and liaising with participants is essential to the research undertaken.”
University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust’s Assistant Chief Nurse for Research & Innovation, Antonella Ghezzi, said: “I am delighted to see so much enthusiasm and commitment in clinical practice. Research is everyone’s business and acknowledging successful interactions between teams is a must. I would like to thank members of the senior research teams for identifying, referring prospective champions and supporting training needs. The award marks continuous dedication and enthusiasm for the profession.”
